Hayley's Postpartum Story
I had a rough start to postpartum life so it was super important to find something to help me feel like myself! For me, simple changes made the biggest difference. One of the most important changes I made was finding a new routine. For us, that meant my husband getting up with baby in the morning (which helped when I had been up 3 times feeding!) It gave me some time to get dressed, do my hair, and throw on a little makeup. Just getting to do these simple things made a HUGE difference in my mindset for the day and helped me feel like myself!
It was also crucial for me to find some time to get out of the house, alone. At home, I felt like my only identity was now “mama,” and I needed to reclaim some of, “grown woman with her own interests.” LOL! Even just walking around target for a half hour or sitting at Starbucks did wonders for reclaiming my identity and getting a mental break!
